I think this has to do with wanting to feel safe growing up. Home for a child is the buffer from the outside world. We all have to leave the nest at some time or another, but as children, this is the one place where we learn, are loved and kept safe.
Below are some sketches of me and my son as he was growing up...

What lovely sketches. Love the details! Thank you for sharing. :)
Yeah. My partner said I look like a gnome in this picture.
Hello Hybrid J,
Thank you for your comment:) I just had a look at your blog:)
Lovely sketches! How old is your son?
wow. the sketches are beautiful, absolutely beautiful. What a talent you have, what a gift you share... THANK You from another admiring Creative Every Day Participant.
Thanks. He is now 20! I get kind of choked up thinking back on his childhood, lots of trips to Sick Kids, Bloorview Macmillan Centre, school interventions, PT, etc.
He has a rare disorder but he has come a very long way with lots of hard work, love and intervention. I'm proud of him:). He has turned out to be a nice young man.
I could say more about people struggling with disabilities but I want to protect him as well. It's something I'm keeping in the back of my mind...
